At Tritility, the safety and wellbeing of our staff is important to us, which is why we have installed defibrillators at our Jarrow site, with another coming soon to our Washington site.
Time is of the essence when someone suffers a heart attack, so it is important to make defibrillators available in as many places as possible. Fewer than one in 10 people who suffer a heart attack outside of a hospital will survive. Therefore, decreasing the time taken to get to them, start CPR and use a defibrillator can dramatically increase their chances of survival. The heart only stays in the right condition for defibrillation to be successful for just a short time, so it’s important to use the defibrillator within the first five minutes.
The only real way of making this happen reliably, is to have more defibrillators in the community, near where we live and work.
You can visit HeartSafe here to find the closest defibrillators to you (the green hearts indicate public access defibrillators which are open 24/7, while the orange hearts indicate limited access defibrillators- clicking on them will show which days/hours they are available for public use).
